WageWisely Portal Papers — Chrome extension

Last updated 27 September 2026.

Every month the office logs in to the EPFO and ESIC portals, files the return, and then goes back for the papers: the return file, the statement, the challan, the receipt, the contribution history. This extension does the going back. You press Get papers on a filing in WageWisely; the extension opens the portal tab you are already logged in to, finds the month, and brings the papers into WageWisely, named by firm, paper and month.

Install

Add to Chrome

Chrome will ask you to allow it on three sites — wagewisely.com and the two portals — and to use the page debugger. Both are explained below. Once added, reload WageWisely and the Get papers buttons start working.

What stays with you

  • The login. The extension never types a user id or a password, and never reads one. You log in; it works in the tab you logged in to.
  • The CAPTCHA. Yours, every time.
  • Every payment. It reads the challan; it never pays it.
  • Every Submit that files. On ESIC's supplementary sheet it types the rows you chose and stops before Submit. That button is yours.
  • Uploading a return file to a portal is switched off in this version. The extension only brings papers back.

What it reads, and where it goes

On the two portals it reads the pages you could see yourself — the month's totals, the challan numbers and amounts, the files behind the download links — and sends them to wagewisely.com only, as you, using the login you already have there. Nothing is sent anywhere else. Nothing is kept inside the extension: the only thing it holds while it works is the job you started (which filing, which month), in the browser's session storage, and that is cleared when the job ends.

It runs on exactly three sites: wagewisely.com, unifiedportal-emp.epfindia.gov.in and portal.esic.gov.in. It cannot see any other tab.

Why it asks for the "debugger" permission

ESIC's challan page has a Print button that only opens the browser's print dialog — there is no PDF file to download. The one way a browser extension can turn a page into a PDF without that dialog is Chrome's debugger interface (Page.printToPDF). The extension attaches it to that one tab for the second it takes, and detaches it. Chrome shows a bar at the top of the window while it is attached; that is Chrome's notice, and we do not hide it. The permission is used for nothing else.

What it stores in WageWisely

The papers it brings back are stored under your account like anything else in WageWisely, and the Privacy Policy applies to them. You can throw them away and fetch them again from the same screen.
